chair

In my research about a floating chair I connected a foam chair to a car and I tried to get it into the air. I didn't succed in that but something beautiful happend. The chair was struggeling with itself on the floor. It didnt want to stress or run. The chair got personality and his own character.
Nowadays there are thousands of interpretations of the chair. It got different functions and shapes. A chair is a place to sit and settle down. It doesnt want to run away and will be always there where you placed it.
With this shape study I want to use a kind of paradoxon in the shape of the chair. It expresses movement like it would do something. But the only thing you see is that the chair wants to stay at his place and doesnt want to move.

Projection into a surreal world: "Hello ... I am A Chair."

To communicate the concept I made this Installation. In this Video I want to project the chair into a surreal world where it is possible to move and speak to the contemplator, viewer. It is struggeling with itself and doubting if it should go foreward, backward or just stand still like a normal chair. Like in Bas Jan Aders Videos you are confronted with the emotions of the person/object in the Video.

STEREOLITHOGRAPHY
The video is based on a 3D File.

As a customer you order this chair by seeing this video (4D). You press stop whenever you feel like and the chair will be printed out with the process of rapid prototying.
Every chair is so individual and custom selected by the viewer.
